He has a growing reputation for his contemporary orchestral and chamber ensemble music, and his music has been played by professional and educational ensembles worldwide.

He has received grants from the American Music Center, Robberson Performance Grant, and the University of Oklahoma. His awards include The American Prize for Choral Composition (2nd Place) and awards from the Anton Stadler Competition, Parade of American Music Composer's Award, University of North Texas 360-Degree Jazz Competition, University of Oklahoma Graduate Research and Performance Award, the Michael Hennagin Memorial Scholarship, and the Carr-Wallace Scholarship.
