Requiescat

Baritone voice solo with mixed ensemble of flute, clarinet, French horn, viola, double bass, guitar, piano and tambourine. The text is from a poem by Oscar Wilde first published in 1881. Wilde wrote Requiescat as an elegy after the death of his sister, Isolde, who died shortly before her tenth birthday. In the poem Wilde vividly expresses the profound sense of loss he feels, and the musical setting is intended to amplify this sentiment.
